Canada Express Entry is a points-based system operated by the Canada Immigration Authority to select suitable applicants. The system evaluates every profile based on age, experience, education, language proficiency, and adaptability. The points are allocated to the applicants. That will decide the chances of selection under the express entry draw. The higher the points, the better is your chances of getting selected under the program.
There are predominantly three programs under Canada Express Entry:
- Federal Skilled Worker Program – Primary pathway for all the overseas skilled professionals
- Canadian Experience Class – A path for those applicants who gained Canadian experience
- Federal Skilled Trades Program – A route for those who belong to the Skilled Trades

What are the eligibility requirements of Canada Express Entry?
- Be minimum of 18 years of age. There is no age barrier to applying for Canada PR; however, after 47 years of age, you won’t get any points for age
- Meet the eligibility points score of 67 by scoring factors such as age, education, experience, language, and adaptability
- Have a minimum of one year of work experience in of the occupations in the National Occupation Classification (NOC)
- Score minimum CLB of 7 in all the four components of the English or French language examination
- Attain Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) for your academic qualification equivalent to the certificate, diploma, or degree
- Demonstrate minimum proof of funds of CAD 13,213 for a single person. The amount increases with the increase in each family member
What is the step-by-step process of Canada Express Entry?
- Identify your occupation from the National Occupation Classification (NOC) list
- Appear for the language examination such as IELTS, CELPIP, TCF
- Get ECA (Education Credential Assessment) of your academic qualifications from the authorities such as WES, ICAS, IQAS, etc.
- Arrange documents such as employment letters (reference letters, offer letters, and relieving letters)
- Create a CIC account and submit an Express of Interest application along with all relevant documents such as Educational Documents, ECA Report of Self and Spouse, IELTS TRF (General Test only), and Employment Documents
- Receive CRS points upon submitting the EOI application based on age, experience, education, language proficiency, and adaptability factors
- Wait for the regular draws listing that selects the applicants who have scored the highest CRS points
- Receive Invitation to Apply after attaining the required CRS Points in line with Immigration Draw
- Appear for Medical Examination and apply for Indian PCC
- Apply for Permanent Residency Online by submitting an ITA application within 60 days of receiving the ITA
What are the documents needed for the Canada Express Entry?
- Copy of Birth Certificates (Self & spouse) – Notary Attested
- 4 Photographs of each Family Member – Specification attached
- Work Experience docs of Self and Spouse
- ECA and IELTS Report
- Marriage Certificate issued by the Marriage Registrar
- Reference Letter on company letterhead
- Proof of Blood relation in Canada, if any
- Updated Resume of self & spouse
- Police Clearance Certificate
- Medicals of all family members (self, spouse, and children)
- Proof of Funds in the form of Fixed Deposits, Original Savings A/c statements, PPF, along with certification letter from the bank
What are the processing timing and fees for the Canada Express Entry?
The processing time can differ from case to case, but the average documentation and process time will take around 6 to 9 months. Below is the breakdown of application fees:
- Single Applicant Fee (CAD 825) + Right of Permanent Residence Fee (CAD 500) = CAD 1,325
- Additional Applicant (Spouse) fee (CAD 825) + Right of Permanent Residence Fee (CAD 500) = CAD 1,325
- Dependent Child Fee = (CAD 225)
