Eligibility Requirements for Post Graduate Work Permit

• For graduates from overseas, as long as you are qualified and have been approved for a study permit. For online studies, you do not require a valid study permit.
• Once you have your degree or diploma, transcript, or official letter from your school, you have up to 180 days to apply for a Post Graduate Work Permit.
• Enrolled in a program that commenced in March 2020 or has started or is yet to start between spring 2020 and summer 2022. For this, you need a study permit that has been approved. Also, this study permit needs to have been applied before your study program.
• You should have completed your study program at a designated learning institution for a minimum of 8 months and which, as a result, has given you a diploma or certificate.
• They should have maintained a full-time status as a student during every semester of their study program. This will not include your final semester that can be part-time or has taken an approved leave from your studies. Also, if you dropped out or switched between March 2020 and the fall semester in 2020 due to the COVID situation, do not worry, as you will still qualify for Post Graduate Work Permit.
• As an applicant of the Post Graduate Work Permit, you should have either graduated from a public post-secondary institution, like college, trade/technical institution, university, or CEGEP (in Quebec), a private post-secondary institution in Quebec that operates under the same rules as public institutions in Quebec or a private or public secondary or post-secondary institution (in Quebec) that provides qualifying programs for 900 hours or more.
• This should lead to a diploma of vocational studies (DVS) or an attestation of vocational specialization (AVS), which can be lesser than 900 hours if combined with DVS.
• Graduation can also be from a Canadian private institution authorized to award degrees under provincial law (Associate, Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. degree). This can happen only if enrolled in a study program that gives a degree as authorized by the province. This program may not comprise all programs of study offered by the private institution.

• official transcript, or a copy of your transcript from the website belonging to your school

The Post Graduate Work Permit application fee is $255 CAN, and for both Restorations of student status and PGWP, the cost is $605 CAN.
