Canada Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship Program
Canada Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) permits the Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents to sponsor their parents or grandparents for permanent residency. The sponsored and selected parents and grandparents will become Canada PR Visa holders and can enjoy all the benefits under Canadian permanent residence. Around 40,000 applicants were granted approval in the year 2021, which is expected to increase each year.
The process for the program can be termed as swift, wherein the sponsoring person must be invited to apply for the program. Then, they must submit two applications – The sponsorship application and the Permanent Residency Application. Upon approval, sponsoring applicants must sign an agreement to take full responsibility for their parents and grandparents.

- They must be invited to apply for the program
- Must have enough funds and income to support the people you want to sponsor
- Meet all the requirements under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations and Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
- The sponsoring individual and the sponsored person/persons must sign a sponsorship agreement
- Must show commitment to sponsor the people financially for three to 20 years depending on their age and relationship
What is the process of the Parent and Grandparent Program?
- Must fill and submit your interest to sponsor form and wait for the invitation
- After the invitation, arrange all the documents and fill out all the necessary applications
- Forms for sponsorship agreement, financial evaluation, income sources, and statuary declaration
- Pay the application fee online for each sponsored applicants
- Submit the application online on the official portal by answering all the questions and uploading all the documents
- Submit additional documents of medical exam report, police certificates, and biometrics upon request from the visa officer
- Receive the sponsorship and PR visa approval
